Ownership

"Man has no property in man; neither has any generation a property in the generations which are to follow" - Thomas Paine, Rights of Man, Part First Every person on this planet has a set of values that they live by, even if they have not been defined. We are ruled by one or two, maybe a combination of a few, but they will determine how our lives are expressed.  When asked what their values are, most people will list "love" as number one and then rattle off the standard, trite responses without real examination of whether those values are apparent in the woven fabric of their life's spectrum. For me, I knew freedom was high on the list yet I hadn't realized how much until the last few years when put through the wringer by God. My spiritual wayfaring has centered specifically around the finding of that freedom. For most of my life, I felt confined, without air, smothered, watched, and owned. Yes, owned. It didn't become apparent until I gave myself to God...

Farming and Revolution

Image
" It was the Constitution that welded them together politically, legally, and economically,  but it was nature that provided a transcendent feeling of nationhood ." When I read the profound introduction to Andrea Wulf's Founding Gardeners , I couldn't help but find comparisons between the time in which Benjamin Franklin was constantly sending seeds back to America for the cultivation of a future independent nation and Washington uprooting all native British trees and shrubbery from his land to the homesteading and off-grid living explosion that's happened in the last 20 years. Yes, there's been talk originally of another civil war but, lately, more of a united movement of a quiet revolution that's happening on both sides of the aisle.  Pre-American Revolution was an ever-increasing, tension-building intensity between the British Empire and the colonists. Most of us were taught that the revolution was fueled by the amplified raising of taxes but, in reality...

Human Design

Image
We've all heard of astrology influencing the character. Perhaps, many of us also know Myers-Briggs or even the Enneagram. But, if you're anything like me, you've either never heard or just come into awareness of Human Design. Somehow I came across it over a year ago and the more I delve into it, the more a rabbit hole it becomes. Someone recently (on a Reddit post) stated that it's a theory, not science, which might be the best way of looking at it. It's a very good theory though, perhaps rather genius. On the surface, it's like our introduction to astrology - rather generalized for the masses and can work across the board depending on how we're feeling that day or how we're choosing to identify. However, like Human Design, the more you delve into the details, conjunctions, nodes, planets, and day-to-day minutiae, it becomes more apparent that it holds validity.  My purpose today though is not to get into whether or not Human Design can be authenticated ...

Enmeshment Trauma

Image
I've heard so many stories of how people felt relief when receiving a diagnosis for some disease or other conditions and I will admit I didn't understand, until now. Coming across one of Teal Swan's videos on this subject, I actually felt that relief. I've described this phenom to myself in so many ways over the years, particularly recently but to pinpoint it with a name rather sealed it into place so that now I can take steps to work through it. Isn't that weird how that works sometimes? The fact that I needed that name to validate what I felt I was experiencing is also telling of how traumatic an experience enmeshment is. So, if you've never heard of it, let me do some explaining... Usually, it begins in childhood in which one parent (at least) raises you in such a way as to force you to identify with him or her as a unit, not as individuals. S/he demands allegiance by controlling what beliefs and ideas you express to the actions you take to the emotions yo...

Voice

You know that feeling like you've been wearing a leaded vest and then one day, you just decide to take it off? Yah, that feeling. The feeling of lightness almost sends the body and mind into an apoplectic fit. I'm having one of those moments right now. Though I have been known to go on the offense in a vicious dog attack mode in the past, for the last couple of years, for the most part, I've been pretty even-keeled due to the wonderful effects that qigong has on me. To clarify too, the only time I have gone on the attack was when someone had taken their bullying, words, or behavior too far. It was always when I was at the end of my rope. (And, mind you, I always mean what I say. Even in anger, I believe in absolute truth as well as absolute love.) There was one time I remember that I had been bullied for months by a coworker that I finally snapped so hardcore that the entire office was like "Oh, shit." I never lost my cool. I've spent the last year centerin...

Weaving a New Sunshine

Image
The evolution of the mind/body/heart complex is about finding alignment. But, what is alignment? To begin, let's say the soul is your foundation point which the rest of you radiates. The soul stands within what's called the zero point, a place of existence where silence can be found. It is the God factor of universal love. The soul only knows love and hence it is only love. From that zero point comes the existence of a plan or blueprint, coding of the soul's existence within the physical plane such as major learning events to experience, along with special gifts and abilities (which we all have.) Upon entering this physical world, you begin your life from a standpoint of pure love, joy, and light. But, then life happens. You watch others to understand what is expected of you. You hear the words that others tell you about the evils of the world or even about the evils of your own self. You feel the pain, sometimes physically but usually emotionally, of loneliness, despair,...

Butterfly Effect

Image
When The Butterfly Effect came out in 2004 with Ashton Kutcher, it was at that time that the theory of the Butterfly Effect was introduced to most of us in the Western Hemisphere, or at least visualized our understanding of the concept. Simply put, it is the idea that the mere flapping of a butterfly's wings can create massive waves of change in future events, like weather patterns. Chaos Theory , or the basis for the Butterfly Effect, states that dramatic events can actually have a wide range of outcomes, depending on the variables introduced within the initial phases of the event. The irony of this theory is based on the idea that chaos is prevalent in events, yet, if we could input every little possibility or fly-by event, patterns would emerge and life, in general, could be absolutely predictive. In recent years, a new theory has emerged that pairs this concept with time travel, that of the Mandela Effect . This theory was first presented when large amounts of the populatio...

Wayfinding

Image
"It's called wayfinding, princess. It's not just sails and knots. It's seeing where you're going in your mind, and knowing where you are by knowing where you've been." - Māui, Moana   "...knowing where you are by knowing where you've been." A beautiful line that caught my attention while watching Moana (Yes! Finally I have seen it!) For years, I have kept detailed journals that analyzed every incident or person that frustrated me. I wanted to know the answer to the ultimate question, "who am I?"   "Who in the world am I? Ah, that's the great puzzle." - Lewis Carroll   It wasn't until I reread them last year, however, that the understanding of where I've been versus where I was currently and was headed came with any enlightenment. Sometimes, we need to have the visual set before us to understand the enormity of our life choices or indecisiveness to see the change, stagnation, or cyclical repetitiveness....

Liminal Space

Image
Airports, stairwells, escalators, elevators, doorways - the places that are meant for coming or going, not being. Liminal space is also a frame of mind in which we are in a period of transition. It is that time when our entire life has been turned upside down by some integral loss that ends up upsetting our perspective on how the world operates. The loss of a loved one, a job, or a marriage can all be causes of placing ourselves into liminal space. At times too, we create it all on our own by questioning our place within the context of our lives - am I meant for something greater/different? It is the period in which we all will reside within many times throughout our lives. That liminal space can last for extremely long periods when we question our own place within the world and seem to be transitioning into someone we are not familiar with. It is customary to be afraid to change, as it is unfamiliar. It is during this time when our sense of self comes into question when ...

The Dark Night of the Soul

Image
Let's just get this out of the way, the ascension process.... it can really suck. Two weeks ago I spent several days in complete despondency. I hid myself away, turned off my phone, and lay around watching movies but not connecting to anything I saw. Now, anyone who knows me knows this may be fairly typical of me - at least with the hiding away and turning off the phone - but the feeling was vastly different. This was a depression of complete loss, as if my world had completely left me and all that was left was a mere facade.  I was dispassionate and bereft of a lifeline. When I lost my brother, it was gut-wrenching horrifying despair that I wish to never experience again but I still maintained an attachment to life and others around me. The depression I felt this time was devoid of that attachment as if I was floating out in space and not able to grasp the solidity of anything that may have surrounded me. On the other hand, the one thing that did have some solidity was th...

Life Makeover

Image
[caption id="attachment_1018" align="alignnone" width="640"   I bet there have been times in your life you just wanted to yell out to the universe "re-do!" And technically, we do get our "re-do" moments throughout life. We all have those scenarios and characters that appear to be on repeat in our life: that guy that we give our love to but treats us like shit, the job where you have that one coworker who merely talks and talks and you end up getting more and more work because s/he doesn't do anything, or perhaps your constant running from good relationships when they get too close for comfort. Sometimes, it's the good scenarios that play out too. It depends on what you've come to expect. What expectations have you been programmed to accept in your life? Perhaps, like me, you've had those moments of epiphany when you realize this and try to change the oft-repeated negator in your life. And, what inevitably happens aga...
